But fear not! I have continued to follow other debunkers efforts in uncovering History-Revisionist/Neo-Nazi/"Truth"-Movement links. Here's a smattering of what has been dug up since my last entry: Poll on the Loose Change forums about Holocause denial and anti-Semitism http://s15.invisionfree.com/Loose_Change_Forum/index.php?showtopic=10695 (NOTE: I can't view it as I am IP banned from their forums, but it probably contains NSFW content) Two earlier polls on LC forums (NOTE: same warning as above): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v349/TrickyNinja/911SpecialReport/Israel.jpg A relatively new JREF forumite has this writeup on his/her blog: http://liberal4lifeblog.blogspot.com/2006/08/special-report-911-truth-movement.html It's not all group hugs though in the "Truth" Movement camp; some History Revisionist view LC as a disinfo campaign by the gov't and put together this video mocking the LC creators: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJc_Xh3oy2s Brainster once again comes through with this little gem http://www.physics911.net/faq.htm From their site " Question 6. Are you saying the Jews are behind 911? Answer: Certainly not. Although Israel is ostensibly a Jewish state, its actions in the middle east are in direct conflict with Jewish Law, ethics and morality. The European (Khazarite) Jews may be described as double victims, suffering not only from centuries of persecution after the fall of Muslim Spain, but from the deceptive practices adopted by the Zionist planners responsible for Israel. Myths such as “a land without people for a people without land” (both questionable propositions) misled thousands of settlers in the Jewish proto-state, followed by millions later. As a general rule, zionist organizations in the west have only one tool with which to counter revelations of the myth-building exercise. Whoever makes such claims is labeled an “anti-semite,” a peculiarly ironic charge under the circumstances. " and the appear to promote Eric Hufschmid(1)'s video, Painful Deceptions. The ADL (Anti-Defamation League) has put together this article on Conspiracy Theories About Jews and 9/11 http://www.adl.org/PresRele/ASInt_13/4346_13.htm Dylan Avery has made his pitch on WingTV http://69.28.73.17/ruppertwingtv.html http://www.wingtv.net/thorn2006/darylsmith10.html Stormfront.org: forum post promoting Loose Change: http://www.stormfront.org/forum/showthread.php?t=282420 (granted, this is a very weak link, but worth mentioning) I'll post more, as there were a great many relevant posts on JREF over the last week, but digging back through to get them is a tad time consuming. (1) Eric is, though not an outright Holocause Denier, a History Revisionist http://www.erichufschmid.net/StopNaziCoverup.html August 10 Deniers just love running in packsThe ever insightful Brainster on JREF provides us this little nugget of insight into the 9/11 Denier's world: "Check out this post by Rick Rajter (be sure to read the replies he makes to the comments as well), who's a member of Scholars for 9-11 Denial and collaborating with Morgan Reynolds. Physics911 has a faq where they accuse the "Zionists" of being behind 9-11. Of course, they're careful to stipulate that they aren't accusing Jews, no sir, just those evil Zionists. Eric Hufschmid is a famed 9-11 and Holocaust Denier." August 06 What I BelieveBeing a member of a forum of skeptics, and that forum having a Religion/Philosophy sub-forum, often leads to the question, "What do you believe?" And, often, if you have been involved in debates with those of a religious inclination, the assumption is made that I am an atheist. In the heat of debate I don't bother correcting this, as the difference between atheism and my beliefs is not usually relevent to the discussion at hand. So, what do I consider myself, if not an atheist? I've settled on the term "apathetic agnostic"; that is to say, I don't care if there is a divine. To understand this phrase you'll need to understand how my views on the concept of the divine have changed over the years. I was raised in a family that was part of the congregation of the local United Methodist Church. We followed the tenets of the faith, more of less, but we weren't religious about it (pun intended). We didn't pray at every meal, just the family meals at the holidays. We made it to church more Sundays than not. Basically, the household, and family, assumed that the Christian fews on the divine were right, but it wasn't necessarily an intrinsic part of life. Even as early as junior high school I was already disillusioned with the Church part of Christianity. The beaurocratic structure that the Church was, the close mindedness, the us vs them mentalities. It had all started to wear on me. I can vividly remember asking my church's pastor, "What happens to people who are good, but have never heard of Jesus, when they die?" I don't remember the exact answer, but I do remember it stinking of political spin.\ By the time college rolled around I was non-religious. Towards the end of college I began to explore neo-paganism. The acceptence of people; idea of being part of the world, and not just a temporary visitor; and non-patriarchicalness of it appealed; but, in the end, I couldn't by in to the magick of it. Following that came zen buddhism and taoism; these I studied in a more philosophical than religious aspect. Again, the idea of connectedness appealed, and I felt affinity for the idea that the divine was dispassionate and disconnected from everyday life. Further examination of what parts of these different belief systems resonated with me lead me to a conclusion; it didn't matter of there was a divine. I didn't believe that the divine interacted directly with the world. I didn't believe it was something we (humans) do, or could, grasp. Based on these conclusions: that it was not testable (no interaction with the world) and not definable (unknowable) then it didn't matter if I "believed" in it or not. It wouldn't affect what I did, how I acted, or how my life turned out. Thus: apathetic agnosticism. So, how do I get labeled atheist? When I'm confronted by someone who feels they have the "truth" about the divine I usually see the same problems in their case: logically inconsistent arguments, and trying to subvert the scientific method to achieve their ends. It's not something I can let slide, so I call them on these issues. At this point, whether I am apathetic agnostic, agnostic, atheist, theist, or feist (one who claims themselves a follower of feism) is moot. So, I get labeled with the name that is the most loaded, "atheist."
